Well, hooray, I guess there’s longevity in this here blog then… I meant to post something a couple of days ago – firstly when I breached the 400 mark and then kicked myself for not making a Star Wars-related posted for the 401st. I started this blog with no real idea of what I was going to do with it, other than having some vague idea that it would go alongside my aspirations as a writer, and 405 posts later I still have no great cohesive plan for it. I still haven’t made a contact information page, for example.
The original thoughts of posting author/writing-related things here kind of hit a brick wall in the face of the realities of writing articles for money – in as much as I’ve often been so exhausted after a day of hitting deadlines that the prospect of doing something for this site has not sat favourably with me. This was especially true when I was first starting and working very hard for not a lot of reward. The experience of seeing the Dungeons and Dragons related posts grow and evolve however, and the extra interest that my near-daily postings this year have generated have served to re-energise my engagement here.
In some ways I’m rather proud of the shambolic layout and content here. I have an eclectic series of tastes and interests, a sometimes weird and wonderful history that can inspire odd tangential writing and am very lucky to know some distinctly strange and un-ordinary people. It seems only right that this public showcase reflect, at least in theme, those aspects of life, love and work.
Right, back to being awesome!
